Recap: Orchard Park Quakers vs. Lancaster Legends
The Orchard Park Quakers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They lost to Lancaster at home by a decisive 57-41 margin. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Orchard Park in their matchups with Lancaster: they've now lost seven in a row.
Despite the defeat, Orchard Park saw an underclassman step up: Lainey Babich dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds. The game was Babich's third in a row with at least ten points. Ella Hernandez was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with five assists.
Orchard Park has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-5 record this season. As for Lancaster, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-1.
Orchard Park will head out on the road to face off against Williamsville North at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Williamsville North will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps New York Rankings (they are ranked 394th, while Orchard Park is ranked 152nd). As for Lancaster, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Clarence at 7:00 p.m. Clarence knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matches -- so hopefully Lancaster likes a good challenge.
