Baseball Recap: Battle Mountain Takes a Loss

Battle Mountain had lost six straight on the road, but on Saturday they dropped their record down to 10-11 to make it seven. They fell just short of the Rifle Bears by a score of 5-4. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bears this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 5-2 on Saturday.

Kai Tipton made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Blake Roberts was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

As for Rifle, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-11. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory they have posted against Battle Mountain since May 18, 2021.

On Rifle's side, they saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Baden Phillips, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Coming up, Battle Mountain is taking a road trip to challenge Aspen at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Rifle, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Grand Junction Central at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. The Warriors will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Bears surely won't give up without a fight.
