Basketball Game Preview: Delta Eagles vs. Shelbyville Golden Bears

The Delta Eagles will take on the Shelbyville Golden Bears at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Delta will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.

Delta will bounce into Saturday's contest after beating Jay County, who they had gone 0-9 against in their nine prior meetings. Delta claimed a resounding 64-33 win over Jay County. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven games by 31 points or more this season.

Jillian Barr was her usual excellent self, almost dropping a double-double on 29 points and nine rebounds. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 15.5 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Addison Barnes, who went 6 for 13 en route to 15 points along with seven boards and three steals.

Delta smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in nine consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Shelbyville was able to grind out a solid victory over Whiteland on Wednesday, taking the game 43-30.

Delta is also on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.5 points per game. As for Shelbyville, their win bumped their record up to 11-9.

Delta lost to Shelbyville at home by a decisive 67-52 margin in their previous matchup back in January of 2024.
