Softball Recap: Richfield Comes Up Short

Richfield lost against San Juan back in March of 2021, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. Richfield fell 11-8 to San Juan. The Wildcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Macie Barton and Kaydence Busk did some serious damage despite the final result: Barton scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances, while Busk scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Busk is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Jaycee McKinlay, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Even though they lost, Richfield kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in five consecutive matchups.

Richfield's loss dropped their record down to 5-10. As for San Juan, they moved to 5-13 with that win, which also ended their seven-game losing streak.

Richfield has already played their next game (against Altamont), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for San Juan, they will host North Summit at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
