Baseball Game Preview: Cocoa Beach Minutemen vs. Wheaton Academy Warriors

The Cocoa Beach Minutemen will take on the Wheaton Academy Warriors at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Cocoa Beach will be strutting in after a victory while Wheaton Academy will be coming in after a defeat.

Cocoa Beach took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They never let Lake Highland Prep get on the board and left with a 5-0 win.

Kristian Wolfe made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over seven innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in February. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Connor McGrew, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-2. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

Meanwhile, Wheaton Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-4 heartbreaker at the hands of Melbourne.

Wheaton Academy saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brandon Kiebles, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double. That double was Kiebles' first of the season.

Cocoa Beach's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-8. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Wheaton Academy, they now have a losing record of 3-4.
