Recap: Unity Reed Lions vs. Hylton Bulldogs
The Unity Reed Lions couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They fell to Hylton 43-39. Unity Reed has not had much luck with Hylton recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Unity Reed's lost on Wednesday despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Charles Pargo, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Julian Shahateet, who scored 11 points along with 5 rebounds.
Leading Hylton to victory were Michael Sylla and Chandler Smith. Sylla scored 8 points along with 6 rebounds, while Smith scored 7 points along with 6 steals and 5 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Farmer Shaun, who scored 11 points along with 5 rebounds.
Unity Reed's loss dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Hylton, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Unity Reed will take on Eastern View at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Hylton, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Colonial Forge at 7:00 p.m. Hopefully Colonial Forge focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Saturday.
