Softball Game Preview: Leetonia Bears vs. East Palestine Bulldogs

Leetonia hasn't had much luck against East Palestine recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Bears will be playing at home against the Bulldogs at 5:00 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Leetonia is headed into Monday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 29th straight game dating back to last season on Friday. They came up short against Heartland Christian, falling 28-11. On the bright side, the 11- run effort marked the Bears' highest-scoring matchup to date.

Faith Dillon was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-2 with three RBI and one run. That run was her first of the season. Ella Harris was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 20 runs the game before, East Palestine was a bit more limited in their game on Wednesday. They lost 12-2 to Salem. The loss continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their meetings with the Quakers: they've now lost three in a row.

East Palestine's defeat dropped their record down to 6-8. As for Leetonia, their loss dropped their record down to 0-13.

Leetonia might still be hurting after the 15-2 defeat they got from East Palestine in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Bears avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
