Basketball Game Preview: Lanham Christian Lions vs. Calverton

Lanham Christian has gone 10-0 against Calverton recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Lanham Christian Lions will be playing at home against Calverton at 4:30 p.m. The timing is sure in Lanham Christian's favor as the squad sits on 11 straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while Calverton has been banged up by nine consecutive losses on the road also dating back to last season.

On Saturday, everything went Lanham Christian's way against Evergreen Christian as Lanham Christian made off with a 65-40 victory. That 25 point margin sets a new team best for the Lions this season.

Lanham Christian had a senior duo take command as Naz Joy almost dropped a double-double on 19 points and nine boards and Dominic Carr dropped a double-double on 15 points and 15 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Joy has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jamar Payen, who posted 11 points and eight boards.

Lanham Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 23 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in 15 consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Calverton). They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat International High School at Largo 91-17. The win was a breath of fresh air for Calverton as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Calverton's victory bumped their record up to 4-9. As for Lanham Christian, their win bumped their record up to 14-4.

Lanham Christian skirted past Calverton 2-0 in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. Will Lanham Christian repeat their success, or does Calverton have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
