Foothill had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 21 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They blew past the Shasta Wolves, posting a 45-9 victory. That 36 point margin sets a new team best for the Cougars this season.

Foothill's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but John Puffer led the charge by throwing for 161 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 88.9% of his passes, and also rushing for 30 yards and one TD. Puffer's passing game has become a key predictor of the Cougars' success: the team is undefeated when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 0-3 otherwise. Turner Knowles was Puffer's top target, picking up eight receiving yards.

The win got Foothill back to even at 3-3. As for Shasta, they dropped their record down to 2-4 with the loss, which was their third straight at home.

Coming up, Foothill will welcome Red Bluff at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Spartans' defense has only allowed 10.8 points per game this season, so the Cougars' offense will have their work cut out for them.
