Softball Recap: Flathead Triumphs

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Sentinel, Flathead was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They came out on top against the Hellgate Knights by a score of 10-6. The Braves/Bravettes haven't had any issues with the Knights recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive win against them.

Lacie Franklin spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and three unearned) runs on 14 hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Mackenzie Brandt, who fired off two home runs and three RBI while going 2-for-4. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Olivia Nyman, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Flathead lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Flathead's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-7. As for Hellgate, they are on a 15-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Coincidentally, Flathead and Hellgate will both be playing Glacier the next time they take the field. The Knights will head out to face the Wolfpack at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, while the Braves/Bravettes will head out to face them at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
