Softball Recap: Burges Wins Going Away Against Jefferson

Burges had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Jefferson on Wednesday. Everything went the Burges Mustangs' way against the Jefferson Silver Foxes as the Burges Mustangs made off with a 14-4 win. The Mustangs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matches by seven runs or more this season.

Angelina Alvarez was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Breann Mendoza, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.

Burges' victory bumped their record up to 11-12. As for Jefferson, the defeat snapped their winning streak at seven games and leaves them with a 11-10 record.

Coming up, Burges will venture away from home to take on Canutillo at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Canutillo is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.7 runs per game this season. As for Jefferson, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Chapin at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Jefferson is on a six-game streak of home wins, Chapin a five-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the field.
