Softball Recap: Johnston's Undefeated Season over After Five Games

If Johnston was riding high fresh off their 15-0 takedown of North Providence on Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Panthers fell 3-0 to the St. Raphael Academy Saints on Monday. The Panthers were red-hot at the plate heading into the contest (they scored no less than ten runs in the three matches prior), but the Saints' pitcher proved too tough.

Haley Boudreau spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on five hits and racked up 17 Ks. Those 17 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

Having lost for the first time this season, Johnston fell to 4-1. As for St. Raphael Academy, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-0.

Looking ahead, Johnston will take on Burrillville at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for St. Raphael Academy, they will square off against Toll Gate at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
