Metro-East Lutheran barely beat Marquette Catholic the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Knights were the clear victors by a 13-5 margin over the Explorers on Tuesday. The Knights might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matchups by six runs or more this season.

Lucas Abbott was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he posted two strikeouts, the most he's had over his last three contests. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Thijson Heard and Sammy Huber did most of the damage at the plate: Heard went 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base, while Huber went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. That's the most RBI Huber has posted since April 1st. Another player making a difference was Jacob Kober, who went 2-for-3 with two runs.

Metro-East Lutheran has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 12 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-7 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Marquette Catholic, they dropped their record down to 12-10 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.

Looking ahead, Metro-East Lutheran will square off against Southwestern at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Marquette Catholic, they will challenge Roxana at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Shells' pitching crew has only allowed three runs per game this season, so the Explorers' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
