Baseball Game Preview: Land O' Lakes Gators vs. Sunlake Seahawks

Land O' Lakes is 8-2 against Sunlake since April of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Land O' Lakes Gators will host the Sunlake Seahawks at 7:00 p.m. The last three games Land O' Lakes has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

On Thursday, Land O' Lakes didn't have quite enough to beat River Ridge and fell 3-2.

Aiden Marsiglio was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out 13 batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits (and not a single walk). Those 13 strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Land O' Lakes saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Christian Vollsteadt, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Meanwhile, Sunlake fell victim to Wesley Chapel and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They fell just short of the Wildcats by a score of 2-0. The Seahawks have struggled against the Wildcats recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meetings.

Sunlake also got a good showing from Cameron Nunez, who didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched.

Land O' Lakes' defeat dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Sunlake, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 4-4.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Land O' Lakes has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 10.1 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Sunlake struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.4 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
