Basketball Recap: Skipstone Academy Takes a Loss

Skipstone Academy managed to slip by Community Christian the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Warriors were dealt a 64-31 defeat at the hands of the Knights on Tuesday. The Warriors were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 44-17.

Despite the loss, Skipstone Academy had strong showings from Scooter Barkley, who posted ten points, and Andrew Phinazee, who scored six points.

Community Christian was led to victory by Zion Johnson and Pressley Marsh. Johnson shot 50% from the field en route to 20 points in addition to five assists and three steals, while Marsh went 7-for-13 on his way to 15 points along with seven rebounds and six assists. Johnson's big performance that evening made it seven games in a row in which he has scored at least 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Chris Barclay, who put up nine points.

This is the second loss in a row for Skipstone Academy and nudges their season record down to 2-2. As for Community Christian, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 6-1.

Skipstone Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 65-45 defeat against Konos Academy on the 11th. As for Community Christian, they will challenge Lafayette Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
