The Pinecrest Academy Cadence Cougars scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They claimed a resounding 59-5 victory over American Heritage Academy at home. The win was a breath of fresh air for Pinecrest Academy Cadence as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.
Pinecrest Academy Cadence was led to victory by Aspen Larson and McKayla Epps. Larson almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine steals, while Epps dropped a double-double on 21 points and 14 steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Epps has scored at least a third of Pinecrest Academy Cadence's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Sierra Larson, who scored two points along with nine rebounds and three steals.
Pinecrest Academy Cadence's win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-18. As for American Heritage Academy, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season.
Pinecrest Academy Cadence will be playing at home against Chaparral at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Chaparral comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 24 points in their last 16 games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse. As for American Heritage Academy, they will head out on the road to square off against Varsity Opponent at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
