Hoover is ranked highly in their home state and on Saturday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of Germantown. The Buccaneers walked away with a 39-30 win over the Mavericks. The 39-point effort marked the Buccaneers' lowest-scoring contest of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Jackson Sheffield had another great game (as he tends to do), shooting 83% from the field to rack up 11 points and three blocks. Riley Kent was another key player, putting up eight points.

Germantown lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Samuel Funches, who posted 11 points and three blocks. Another player making a difference was Alfred Stokes, who put up eight points.

Hoover has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. As for Germantown, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-4.

Coming up, Hoover will be home for the holidays to greet Shelbyville Central at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Germantown, they will be taking part in a tournament against Meridian at 12:20 p.m. on the 30th.
