Basketball Game Preview: Mt. Hope Huskies vs. East Greenwich Avengers

Having just played yesterday, the Mt. Hope Huskies will head out on the road to face off against the East Greenwich Avengers at 12:45 p.m. on Saturday. Mt. Hope is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last five games.

On Friday, Mt. Hope was able to grind out a solid victory over Blackstone Valley Prep, taking the game 57-48. That's two games straight that the Huskies have won by exactly nine points.

Meanwhile, East Greenwich earned a 51-41 win over Rogers on Tuesday. The Avengers haven't had any issues with the Vikings recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

East Greenwich's win came from a few key players Mt. Hope will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Rees Maccarone, who posted 17 points. His evening made it six games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points. Jake Stanger was another key player, putting up 14 points.

Mt. Hope's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.3 points over those games. As for East Greenwich, their victory bumped their record up to 7-11.

Mt. Hope was taken down by East Greenwich 71-42 in their previous meeting back in February of 2021. Can Mt. Hope avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
