On Friday, South Charleston faced Washington in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The South Charleston Black Eagles were the clear victor by a 62-37 margin over the Washington Patriots. The Black Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven games by 20 points or more this season.

Despite the defeat, Washington saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Avorie Brown posted 16 points. Another player making a difference was Chet Gore, who had nine points.

South Charleston has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.1 points over those games. Washington is on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 11-8.

Looking ahead, South Charleston will take on Parkersburg South at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Parkersburg South's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last five matches. As for Washington, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 59-39 win against Elkins on the 1st.
