Softball Recap: Arlington Comes Up Short

Arlington was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat dating back to last season. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 1-0 heartbreaker at the hands of the Mount Vernon Bulldogs. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Eagles of the 2-1 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2016.

Kinsey Marchand spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances.

Arlington's defeat dropped their record down to 0-8. As for Mount Vernon, they pushed their record up to 6-2 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season.

Arlington and Mount Vernon will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next matchups. The next time the Eagles see the field they'll take on Lake Stevens at 4:30 p.m. on the 14th. As for Mount Vernon, their break will end when they face Lakewood at 4:00 p.m. on the 15th.
