Football Recap: Marquette Catholic Skates Past Madison with Ease

Marquette Catholic never got on the board in their matchup last Friday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Madison on Friday. They blew past the Trojans, posting a 49-13 win. Considering the Explorers have won four matchups by more than 20 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Marquette Catholic found their leader in sophomore Jhordyn Croft, who rushed for 129 yards and three scores. Those 129 rushing yards set a new season-high mark for Croft. Toby Eberlin was another key player, throwing for 145 yards and a pair of TDs while completing 73.3% of his passes.

On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Marquette Catholic's defense and their four sacks. Aidan Hayes refused to say out of the backfield, picking up 1.5 sacks all by himself.

Marquette Catholic has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 37.2 points over those games. As for Madison, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-6.

Marquette Catholic has already played their next game, a 32-14 defeat against Hayti on the 18th. As for Madison, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 29-6 loss against Gateway Tech on the 17th.
