The Del Mar Dons will head out to face off against the Oak Grove Eagles at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Del Mar will be strutting in after a win while Oak Grove will be coming in after a defeat.
Del Mar will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up two runs on Wednesday, then bounced right back against Silver Creek on Monday. The Dons were the clear victors by an 11-4 margin over the Raiders. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Dons' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Natalie Dixon made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, Niarah Aimonetti and Julienn (Jess) Ruiz-Correa did most of the damage at the plate: Aimonetti went a perfect 3-for-3 with one run and one RBI, while Ruiz-Correa went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Angelina Lopez, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs.
Del Mar was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. They are 2-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Oak Grove was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They came up short against Christopher, falling 19-5. That's two games in a row now that the Eagles have lost by exactly 14 runs.
Adeline Serrato made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Those RBI marked the first that she has brought in this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Aolani Cortes, who went 2-for-3 with two runs.
Oak Grove's defeat dropped their record down to 1-11. As for Del Mar, they moved to 4-12 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak.
Oak Grove's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Tuesday. Del Mar has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.1 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Oak Grove, though, as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3 strikeouts. Will Del Mar keep running through batters, or will the Eagles buck the trend?
Del Mar took their win against Oak Grove when the teams last played back in April by a conclusive 11-2 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Dons since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
