League recap: Lanier stuns Jefferson Davis in upset

The biggest upset of the week belonged to Lanier, who took down 156th ranked Jefferson Davis, 30-7.

Central suffered a letdown when it was bounced from the state Top 25 this week after falling to Auburn. The Red Devils had been ranked 15th, but fell to 31.

Carver's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Jeremy Johnson threw for 203 and five touchdowns and Draequon Murphy had 90 yards receiving. On the ground Harvey Harris chipped in 181 yards. Charles Standberry helped Carver's passing attack out by catching three balls for 44 yards.

Reuben Foster made the biggest impact on defense this week as the Tigers topped Central. The 6-foot-1 senior racked up one sack.

Carver's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Wolverines feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Johnson has thrown for 1803 yards and 24 touchdowns this season, while Landy Capetillo has 25 catches for 497 yards. Harris leads the league in rushing with 869 yards.

The Wolverines' Johnson is within 197 passing yards of surpassing 2,000 on the season coming into this week's game against Smiths Station.

A big matchup in the league this week will be when Carver takes on the Panthers. Billy Gresham's team is currently in first, while Smiths Station is in fifth.

Opelika was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fifth to third in the league. The Bulldogs beat Mark Rose's team 21-3 earlier in the week.
