Baseball Recap: Montabella's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Montabella lost a heartbreaker the last time they played St. Charles, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Tuesday's match. The Mustangs were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the Bulldogs on Tuesday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Mustangs as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.

Mason Bogart made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Montabella is 2-1 when Bogart allows one or fewer hits, but 4-14 otherwise. Bogart was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two runs and two RBI. Those two runs gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Montabella got a big performance out of Brady Kieff, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. That's the most hits Kieff has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryton Strohl, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Montabella was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Montabella's win bumped their record up to 6-15. As for St. Charles, they are on a 14-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-13.

Coming up, Montabella will be playing in front of their home fans against Breckenridge at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for St. Charles, they are taking a road trip to take on Birch Run at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
