Softball Recap: Jac-Cen-Del Takes a Loss

Jac-Cen-Del had lost eight straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 0-13 to make it nine. They fell just short of the Edinburgh Lancers by a score of 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Eagles have suffered since May 8, 2024.

As for Edinburgh, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 13-8 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.6 runs on average over those games.

For Edinburgh's part, Gracie Barrett was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI Barrett has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Adalynn Ramey, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Jac-Cen-Del will face off against South Ripley at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Raiders will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Eagles surely won't give up without a fight. As for Edinburgh, they will challenge Greenwood Christian Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
