Softball Game Preview: Ridgemont Golden Gophers vs. Cory-Rawson Fighting Hornets

The Ridgemont Golden Gophers are taking a road trip to challenge the Cory-Rawson Fighting Hornets at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Ridgemont has given up an average of 8.8 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Ridgemont came up short against North Baltimore on Monday, falling 15-5. The Golden Gophers haven't had much luck with the Tigers recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Brilynn Rudasill made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. That double marked the first that she has hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Riley Hites, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Cory-Rawson lost 22-2 to Ridgedale on Monday.

Cory-Rawson has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-10 record this season. As for Ridgemont, their loss dropped their record down to 6-8.

Everything went Ridgemont's way against Cory-Rawson in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Ridgemont made off with an 18-5 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Golden Gophers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
