Softball Recap: Four Straight Road Wins for Lake Linden-Hubbell

The home team had come away the winner the last seven times Lake Linden-Hubbell and L'Anse had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Lakes' pitcher stepped up to hand the Purple Hornets a 9-0 shutout on Tuesday. The Lakes haven't had any issues with the Purple Hornets recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.

Payton Goldsworthy was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three runs, two doubles, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashlyn Steves, who went 3-for-5 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Lake Linden-Hubbell pushed their record up to 10-4 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for L'Anse, they are on a nine-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Lake Linden-Hubbell beat the Purple Hornets by a score of 12-1 later that day.
