Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask South Allegheny). They were the clear victors by a 16-0 margin over the Steel Valley Ironmen on Monday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Gladiators considering their one-run performance the contest before.
Josh Jackowski made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off seven hits. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because South Allegheny is 2-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 4-6 otherwise. Jackowski was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Those hits were his first of the season.
In other batting news, South Allegheny got a massive performance out of Koltin Keener, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Keener is becoming a predictor of the Gladiators' success: when he posts at least three RBI the team is undefeated (and 3-7 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Mason Campano, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.
South Allegheny always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .618. The last time their OBP was this high was was before the start of last season.

The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 0 runs in those games.
