            Basketball Recap: Arrupe Jesuit Generals vs. Ascent Classical Academy Guardians        
        
		
        
        
            While Arrupe Jesuit didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-14), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They blew past the Ascent Classical Academy Guardians 88-49  on Tuesday. The  contest marked the Generals' most dominant  victory of the  season so far.

Arrupe Jesuit got their  win on the backs of several key players, but it was  Manuel Loya out in front who  went 10 for 17  on his way to 24  points and four  steals. The  game was  Loya's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of  Louie Garcia, who  went 7 of 9  on his way to 18 points and three  steals.
 Arrupe Jesuit  smashed the offensive glass and  finished the game with 14  offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now  pulled down at least nine  offensive boards in nine consecutive  matchups  dating back to last season.
 Despite the  loss, Ascent Classical Academy saw an underclassman step up: sophomore  Mason Jones  went 13 of 27  on his way to 34  points and three  steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most  points  Jones has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of  Jack Colberg, who  posted six  points.
Arrupe Jesuit's victory was  their third straight at home, which  pushed their record up to 4-0. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 34 points. As for Ascent Classical Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-4.
 Arrupe Jesuit and Regis Groff will compete for holiday cheer  at 7:30  p.m.  on Thursday. Regis Groff is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56  points per game  this season. As for Ascent Classical Academy, they won't have much time to rest: their next  contest is against Varsity Opponent  at 6:30  p.m.  on Wednesday.
