Monroe was handed a three-set defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 victory over the Lincoln Railsplitters. The win was some much needed relief for the Trojans as it spelled an end to their three-match losing streak.

The match was a true back-and-forth as no team won consecutive sets, but in the end it was Monroe who won the one that mattered. The match finished with set scores of 26-24, 21-25, 26-24.

Despite the loss, Lincoln still got an impressive performance from Olivia Sarvis, who had nine digs.

Monroe's victory bumped their record up to 4-14. As for Lincoln, their loss dropped their record down to 7-14.

Monroe has already played their next matchup, a 3-2 win against Huron on the 7th. As for Lincoln, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 3-2 defeat against Jackson on the 7th.
