Softball Game Preview: John F. Kennedy Catholic Eagles vs. Liberty Leopards

The John F. Kennedy Catholic Eagles will head out to challenge the Liberty Leopards at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.

John F. Kennedy Catholic is headed into Thursday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 11th straight game dating back to last season on Thursday. They lost 11-4 to Harding.

Kylee Marlatt was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over 3.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off five hits (and not a single walk). Marlatt was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

Marlatt wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jasmine Ridley, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. Another was Danielle Wickham, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.

Liberty not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 9, 2024. They put the hurt on Newton Falls with a sharp 7-0 win. The Leopards haven't had any issues with the Tigers recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

The win got Liberty back to even at 2-2. As for John F. Kennedy Catholic, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

John F. Kennedy Catholic came up short against Liberty in their previous matchup back in April of 2019, falling 17-14. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
