Softball Game Preview: Satellite Scorpions vs. Merritt Island Christian Cougars

The Satellite Scorpions will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against the Merritt Island Christian Cougars at 7:15 p.m. Satellite is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak.

Satellite came up short against Pembroke Pines Charter on Saturday, falling 8-1.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Merritt Island Christian). They came out on top against Heritage by a score of 22-17 on Thursday. The Cougars haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

The team relied heavily on Parker Morrison, who scored four runs and stole a base while going 3-for-5. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Grace Ebert, who scored a run while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.

Morrison wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Merritt Island Christian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. Merritt Island Christian is a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Satellite's defeat dropped their record down to 10-6. As for Merritt Island Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 4-5.

Tuesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Satellite has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .494. However, it's not like Merritt Island Christian struggles in that department as they've averaged .438. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Everything went Satellite's way against Merritt Island Christian when the teams last played back in April of 2021, as Satellite made off with a 20-10 win. Will Satellite repeat their success, or does Merritt Island Christian has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
