Recap: Preston Knights vs. University Hawks
The Preston Knights's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their third straight loss. Their tough 74-49 loss to University might stick with them for a while. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Preston came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' West Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 87th, while University is ranked 434th).
Aaron White and Brier Rugg certainly did their best on Wednesday to try and avoid the loss. White scored 12 points along with seven rebounds, while Rugg scored 13 points. Rugg also grabbed two steals for the first time this season.
Even though they lost, Preston were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Preston now has a losing record at 2-3. As for University, the win got them back to even at 2-2.
Preston will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Philip Barbour at 7:00 p.m. on December 28th. University and East Chapel Hill will round out the year against one another at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday at. East Chapel Hill is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
