Basketball Recap: Somerset Academy Brooks Comes Up Short

Somerset Academy Brooks was the 58-57 winner over Karnes City when they last played one another back in January of 2018, but their luck changed this time around. Somerset Academy Brooks took a 45-31 bruising from Karnes City on Friday.

Karnes City's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Savion Nixon-Thompson led the charge by putting up 16 points and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Micah Fuentes, who shot 42% from the field to rack up 11 points in addition to eight boards and four steals.

Somerset Academy Brooks' loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Karnes City, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season.

Somerset Academy Brooks will venture away from home to face off against KIPP University Prep at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Karnes City, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 49-27 victory against Weimar on the 12th.
