Baseball Recap: Rhodes Comes Up Short

Rhodes dropped their record down to 15-4 on Wednesday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They lost 11-1 to the Fairview Warriors. Having soared to a lofty 14 runs in the game before, the Rams couldn't push the score so high this time.

Roberto Benitez made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with three stolen bases and one run. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more stolen bases the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Emanuel Quinones, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

As for Fairview, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 10-6. Considering they have won six contests by more than seven runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

On Fairview's side, Dylan Sather was a standout: he got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs. The Warriors are undefeated when Sather posts two or more stolen bases, but 3-6 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Brady Weir, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Rhodes will venture away from home to face off against Lutheran West at 11:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Fairview, they will head out to square off against Avon Lake at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The last three games the Shoremen have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
