Basketball Recap: Tucson High Magnet School Takes a Loss

Tucson High Magnet School lost against Sunnyside back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Tucson High Magnet School Badgers had to suffer through a 53-23 loss at the hands of the Sunnyside Blue Devils. While losing is never fun, the Badgers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 113th, while the Blue Devils are ranked 15th).

Sunnyside got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Angelique Yanez out in front who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 16 boards. Annabelle Quiroga was another key player, putting up 12 points and six rebounds.

Tucson High Magnet School's defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-11. As for Sunnyside, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 14 games, which provided a nice bump to their 21-2 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Tucson High Magnet School will face off against Rincon/University at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Rincon/University will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something Tucson High Magnet School surely won't give up without a fight. As for Sunnyside, they will square off against Marana at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Sunnyside is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 59.2 points per game this season.
