Softball Game Preview: Amite County Trojans vs. Bogue Chitto Bobcats

Amite County is on a seven-game streak of home losses, and Bogue Chitto a five-game streak of away losses. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Thursday. The Amite County Trojans will be playing in front of their home fans against the Bogue Chitto Bobcats at 6:00 p.m. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Amite County lost 14-1 to Franklin County on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Thursday just wasn't the day for Bogue Chitto's offense. They fell just short of Loyd Star by a score of 2-0 on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Bobcats have suffered against the Hornets since March 18, 2021.

Jonna Claire Roberts spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on five hits.

On the hitting side, Bogue Chitto saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Abigail Holder, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base. Holder is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played.

Amite County's loss dropped their record down to 1-16. As for Bogue Chitto, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-12.
