Softball Recap: Gallatin Comes Up Short

The home team had won the previous four meetings between Gallatin and Portland, and Portland kept the tradition alive. Gallatin fell just short of Portland by a score of 7-6 on Monday. The Green Wave were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Panthers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2021.

Bailey Daughtry made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one home run. That home run was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Isabella Palmer, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Gallatin has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season. Portland's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-5.

Coming up, Gallatin will square off against Hendersonville at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hendersonville's pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so Gallatin's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Portland, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Portland Panthers challenge Greenbrier Bobcats at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. This will be their first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
