It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Newman Central Catholic can now relate to. They lost 9-3 to the Teutopolis Wooden Shoes on Friday. The Comets' loss signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Newman Central Catholic saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Garret Matznick, who went 3-for-4 with two runs and one double. Another was Ashton Miner, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI and one double.

Newman Central Catholic's defeat dropped their record down to 27-8-1. As for Teutopolis, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 30-5 record this season.
