Baseball Recap: Taft School's Loss Ends Four-Game Winning Streak on the Road

Taft School dropped their record down to 9-5 on Wednesday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins on the road. They lost 15-8 to the Choate Rosemary Hall School Wild Boars. The Big Red were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Wild Boars earlier this season, when they won 12-2.

Oliver Lefkowitz made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases and one run. Cayden Van Dolah was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

As for Choate Rosemary Hall School, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 8-5. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games.

On Choate Rosemary Hall School's side, Nate Kempton made a big impact no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over 5.2 innings pitched. Those nine strikeouts gave Kempton a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with three runs.

In other batting news, Connor Tam and Julian Lemper-Turkisher did most of the damage at the plate: Tam went 1-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double, while Lemper-Turkisher went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Those three hits gave Lemper-Turkisher a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Gianni Vora, who got on base in two of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

Coming up, Taft School will challenge Avon Old Farms at 4:45 p.m. on Friday. The Beavers' pitching crew has only allowed 2.8 runs per game this season, so the Big Red's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Choate Rosemary Hall School, they will take on Kent School at 2:45 p.m. on Saturday. The Wild Boars are facing the Lions at the right time seeing as the Lions are stuck on a ten-game losing streak.
