Baseball Recap: Cypress Lake Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Cypress Lake, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Monday. Everything went their way against the Lely Trojans on Wednesday as they made off with an 11-3 win. The victory continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Trojans: they've now won five in a row.

Luigi Smith was a major factor no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over four innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Fernando Carrasquel was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Harrison Small, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-4.

Cypress Lake's win bumped their record up to 8-15. As for Lely, they dropped their record down to 3-19 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road.

Cypress Lake does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Lely, they will challenge Ida Baker at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
