Basketball Game Preview: Morningside Academy Eagles vs. Odyssey Charter School Titans

The Morningside Academy Eagles are taking a road trip to face off against the Odyssey Charter School Titans at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Morningside Academy will head into Monday's matchup out to bounce back: they won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Monday. They took a blow against Vero Beach, falling 51-20. The Eagles were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 30-9.

Meanwhile, Odyssey Charter School played a tough game back in December of 2024 in which they were outscored in every quarter. They lost 58-36 to Calvary Chapel Academy. The Titans have struggled against the Eagles recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Morningside Academy will need focus on slowing down Natalia Dejesus Bruno, one of several Odyssey Charter School players who made an impact when they last played. She posted 15 points. Ismarie Mercados was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Morningside Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 8-3. As for Odyssey Charter School, they now have a losing record at 3-4.

Everything came up roses for Morningside Academy against Odyssey Charter School when the teams last played back in December of 2023, as the team secured a 59-28 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Morningside Academy since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
