Baseball Recap: North Kitsap Continues Home Dominance on Wednesday

North Kitsap entered their tilt with Kingston on Wednesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Buccaneers a 9-0 shutout. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 5-0 on Tuesday.

Tate Stearns made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Nolan Rowe, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Greysen Prichard, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

North Kitsap always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Kingston only posted an OBP of .286.

North Kitsap pushed their record up to 11-3-1 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.8 runs over those games. As for Kingston, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season.

North Kitsap wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 12-6 defeat against Mount Si on the 25th. As for Kingston, they have also already played their next contest, a 6-2 loss against Olympic on the 29th.
