Softball Game Preview: Glendale Nitros vs. Crescenta Valley Falcons

Glendale hasn't had much luck against Crescenta Valley recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Nitros will be playing in front of their home fans against the Falcons at 3:45 p.m. Glendale has given up an average of 8.7 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Glendale lost 17-5 to Muir on Tuesday. The Nitros have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Jade Marquez was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Rachel Francis, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, Crescenta Valley unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Wednesday. They fell just short of Oaks Christian by a score of 4-2. Having soared to a lofty 16 runs in the game before, the Falcons couldn't push the score so high this time.

Kate Barnes made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and got on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run and one stolen base. That home run was her first of the season.

Glendale now has a losing record of 9-10-1. As for Crescenta Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-5.

Thursday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Glendale hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .387. However, it's not like Crescenta Valley struggles in that department as they've averaged .387. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
