Recap: City View Mustangs vs. Vernon Lions
Even though the Vernon Lions scored an imposing 56 points on Friday, the City View Mustangs still came out on top. City View managed a 60-56 win over Vernon. That result was just more of the same for these two, as City View also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2023.
City View's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Emarei Brandon, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which Brandon has scored at least 25% of City View's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Chyree Pennington, who scored seven points along with seven rebounds.
The win makes it two in a row for City View and bumps their season record up to 10-11. As for Vernon, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost ten of their last 13 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-14 record this season.
Coincidentally, the pair will both be playing Bowie the next time they take the court. City View will host Bowie at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while Vernon will head out to face them at 12:30 p.m. on Friday.
