Soccer Recap: Ridgway Falls to Montezuma-Cortez in First Game of Season

Ridgway kicked off their season on the road on Friday and hit a couple of potholes. They fell 4-2 to the Montezuma-Cortez Panthers. Ridgway were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Montezuma-Cortez apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in August of 2024.

Henry Deppen and Sean Lawler scored both of Ridgway's goals, which were season-firsts for both players.

The victory got Montezuma-Cortez back to even at 1-1.

Ridgway will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Gunnison at 4:00 p.m. on September 10. As for Montezuma-Cortez, they will face off against Eagle Valley at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
