Hodgeman County picks up sixth straight win on the road

Recap: Hodgeman County Longhorns vs. Ashland Blue Jays

Winning is just a little bit easier when you work as a team to rack up eight more assists than your opponent, a fact the Hodgeman County Longhorns proved on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 47-32 victory over Ashland. Given Hodgeman County's advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 37th, while Ashland is ranked 168th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Morgan Ruff continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 21 points along with five rebounds and three steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashlynn Beil, who scored eight points along with three steals.

Ashland's loss came despite strong showings from Biannca Ceniceros and Lily McPhail. Ceniceros scored 15 points along with five rebounds and three steals, while McPhail scored 11 points along with four steals. Those 15 points set a new season-high mark for her.

Hodgeman County's win was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-2. As for Ashland, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-5.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hodgeman County will take on Pawnee Heights at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Ashland, they will be playing at home against South Central at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. South Central will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
