Softball Recap: Greene Central Rams vs. Southside Seahawks
Greene Central was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their 39th straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 11-4 to the Southside Seahawks. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Seahawks this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 16-3 two weeks ago.
Greene Central saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Grace Baggett, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. Shelby McKeel also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
Greene Central's loss dropped their record down to 0-18. As for Southside, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-7-1.
Coming up, Greene Central is taking a road trip to face off against West Craven at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Southside, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Lejeune at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Devil Pups have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.2 runs per game on average), something the Seahawks will no doubt try to take advantage of.
