Basketball Recap: Columbus Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Columbus extended their losing streak to six on Saturday, dropping them down to 2-7. They had to suffer through a 72-40 loss at the hands of the Monroe Golden Tornadoes. While losing is never fun, the Blue Devils can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 412th, while the Golden Tornadoes are ranked 127th).

As for Monroe, their victory was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-2. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 28.9 points.

Brayden Burns had another great game (as he tends to do), going 6-for-9 on his way to 12 points along with seven boards and six steals. Burns is crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Tristan Terry was another key player, shooting 83% from the field en route to 12 points.

Looking ahead, Columbus will venture away from home to square off against Carver at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The matchup will give the Blue Devils their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Monroe, they will be home for the holidays to greet Colquitt County at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
