Basketball Recap: Millbrook Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Lucy Ellis and Lauren Brown

Millbrook lost against Wakefield last Saturday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Millbrook Wildcats came up short against the Wakefield Wolverines, falling 57-34. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 188th, while the Wolverines are ranked 16th).

Millbrook's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Lauren Brown, who posted 14 points and five rebounds, and Lucy Ellis, who scored four points along with five boards and four steals. Brown is also on a roll when it comes to blocks, as she's now posted two or more in each of the last four games she's played.

Maddison McIntyre had an outrageously good game for Wakefield as she dropped a double-double with 14 points and 11 boards. What's more, McIntyre also posted four assists, the most she's had since back in February of 2024. Jaya Hamilton was another key player, putting up nine points and six rebounds.

Millbrook has traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight matches, which has put a noticeable dent in their 10-10 record this season. As for Wakefield, the victory (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 16-3.

Millbrook didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 75-39 loss against Rolesville on the 7th. As for Wakefield, they have also already played their next contest, a 64-34 win against Wake Forest on the 7th.
